The month of June has reminded us of the importance of youth in our lives, a community of support, and most importantly, the promise of the coming Kingdom of God. The Apostle Paul wrote these words to his young colleague Timothy: “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity”. 1 Timothy 4:12 Throughout this month, we’ve witnessed God at work through young people who are not ashamed to be an example to all believers. On June 22nd, we shared a fun day with the JaQuan Lavender Foundation at the 3rd Annual Olympic Fun Day. The Jaquan Lavender Foundation: Journey to Gold is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth in pursing their hopes and dreams through professional programming and mentorship On this day, youth enjoyed field activities, face painting, vendors, food and inspirational music. We were grateful for this opportunity to partner and to connect families to our services! On June 23rd, we welcomed our first Joshua Group of the summer from Columbia Methodist Youth Fellowship. This group of ladies had major painting skills and spent the week giving our Fresh Market Food Pantry a little “facelift” with a fresh coat of paint! On June 25th, guest staying at our men and women’s shelter were blessed with over 100 bagged lunches lovingly prepared by the Wintersville Methodist Church Youth Group- just one of many outreach activities scheduled for their 2024 Mission Week! Our prayer is for our young people to continue to grow in the love and grace of God, and we will be here to support you as you continue to respond to the calling that He has placed on your lives.
